Welcome!
Thank you for visiting!
The View from Eutychus’ Window is a collection of my sermons and homilies which I have chosen to make available for parishioners, family, friends and the general public. It is my hope that readers will find these words both inspiring and challenging. The Gospel continues to push us not only to reexamine our lives and our relationship with God, but also to reexamine our ideas about who God is and what God calls us to in our lives.
The Church is a community that should nurture us in that understanding and support us in the search for meaning and the exploration of the Divine. In that sense, these are words for the church. I will (sometimes unabashedly) use jargon and insider terms because this is the vocabulary of the Church. I will also seek just as often to try to unpack some of this insider language.
However, the Church can also be a place where people experience exclusion, bigotry, condemnation and ignorance. Unfortunately, the flaws of the Church often reflect poorly on its founder. I firmly believe no one denomination, faith or understanding of God has a monopoly on the truths of God. In that sense, I also hope that these words might also speak to those outside the Church who may not consider themselves Christian, spiritual or even faithful in a way that may help them understand one view of the Divine.
I am affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and while I hope that they do, the views represented in this material do not necessarily represent the views of that organization. The content expressed here is purely my own, except where otherwise cited.
New content will be posted as quickly as I can get it up. Usually, this will be the afternoon after worship, but no later than the following day. In other words, for regular Sunday services, material will be posted usually by Sunday evening, but no later than Monday noon.
